Overview
This is the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) mandated Advanced Human Trafficking #3271 course offered in an online training course format for Texas Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.

Understanding and addressing human trafficking is a critical responsibility for law enforcement officers, jailers, and telecommunicators. This advanced course builds on foundational knowledge to equip public safety professionals with the specialized skills and understanding required to combat human trafficking effectively.

Human trafficking is a pervasive and evolving crime that affects communities locally and globally. In this course, participants will deepen their understanding of human trafficking from both a global enforcement perspective and a localized operational viewpoint. The curriculum explores the various types of trafficking, including labor trafficking, sex trafficking, and the exploitation of vulnerable populations.

Key Learning Objectives:

  1. Global and Local Perspectives: Analyze the interconnectedness of human trafficking at global and local levels, recognizing how international trends influence local cases and vice versa.
  2. Types of Human Trafficking: Differentiate between labor and sex trafficking, as well as other emerging forms of exploitation, to develop tailored intervention strategies.
  3. Legal Frameworks and Protocols: Understand federal and state laws governing human trafficking and apply this knowledge to investigations, arrests, and prosecutions.
  4. Investigative Techniques: Master advanced investigative approaches, including digital evidence gathering, surveillance, and victim-centered interviewing techniques.
  5. Role of Jailers and Telecommunicators: Highlight the critical roles jailers and telecommunicators play in identifying potential victims and traffickers through observations, intake processes, and call handling.

Why This Course Matters:

For law enforcement officers, the course enhances their ability to identify, investigate, and dismantle trafficking operations. For jailers, it emphasizes the importance of recognizing signs of trafficking among detainees and collaborating with investigators. For telecommunicators, it focuses on effectively identifying trafficking-related calls, supporting investigations, and safeguarding victims through timely, informed responses.

By delving into the legal, investigative, and human elements of these crimes, participants will leave this course better prepared to address the complexities of human trafficking, protect vulnerable populations, and bring perpetrators to justice. This specialized training aims to elevate the readiness and effectiveness of Texas peace officers, jailers, and telecommunicators in combating one of the most heinous crimes of our time.

Please note, the entire course (including any applicable course parts), final exam(s), and course evaluation(s) must be completed in order to receive four (4) hours of course credit.
