This is the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) mandated Texas State & Federal Law Update #3188 online training course offered for Texas Peace Officers.

This course covers the bills passed in the 88th legislative session, which affect most peace officers, judges, and prosecutors of the State of Texas. This material is a general summary of selected court cases and changes to Texas’ statutes that govern the laws enforced along with the administration of law enforcement officers and agencies as determined by the 88th legislative session. This is not all-inclusive for every change. You must verify all legislative changes and case-law holdings discussed and are responsible for appropriately implementing these changes. Your agency should be working to make the changes and additions to your policy and procedures.

There is no substitute for reading the actual statutes, legislative acts, and court cases. Please consult your local city, county, or district attorney with any questions about applying the bills and statutes covered within this resource guide. 

Please note, the entire course, final exam(s), and course evaluation(s) must be completed in order to receive seven (7) hours of course credit.

TCOLE Reporting
