This is the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) elective Risk & Safety Management in Law Enforcement #7821 online training course offered for Texas Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.

A new era of police reform has increased public attention to liability costs of law enforcement, specifically in cases of misconduct settlements and risk management policy. Though the overall number of claims against law enforcement has been relatively flat in the previous decade, the cost of misconduct settlements has increased dramatically.

As a part of the broad continuum of reforms currently underway throughout the country, departments and municipalities are taking a close look at their risk management strategies to control liability costs.

In this course you will learn the many aspects of risk management and how law enforcement across the country works toward mitigating the losses that result from litigation.

Please note, the entire course, final exam(s), and course evaluation(s) must be completed in order to receive four (4) hours of course credit.

TCOLE Reporting
