This is an OSS Academy® Robbery Response for Banks online training course offered for Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.

Contrary to television portrayals, bank robbers killing law enforcement officers is far from glamorous. Bank robberies remain costly to officers even in the 21st century. The magnitude of devastation created by the death of even a single officer is heartbreaking.

The problem is further exacerbated by the FDIC insurance program, which can create a societal impression that these are victimless crimes. This course highlights the need for organizational planning, policy development, and proper equipment for responding officers. It also discusses who holds primary investigative responsibility if the financial institution is insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).
