Overview
This is a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) elective Animal Crimes & Cruelty Investigations #3287 online training course.

This course is offered in partnership with the Humane Society of North Texas, ensuring real-world expertise and practical guidance to enhance the effectiveness of investigations and enforcement actions.

Animal crime is often an overlooked yet serious offense with direct ties to broader criminal activities, including domestic violence, drug trafficking, and organized crime. This essential training is designed to equip law enforcement officers, jailers, animal control officers, and emergency communicators with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize, investigate, and respond to cases of animal cruelty and neglect effectively.

Through this course, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of Texas state animal cruelty laws, the different forms of animal-related crimes, and fundamental investigative procedures. Special emphasis will be placed on identifying warning signs, gathering evidence, and properly obtaining an animal seizure warrant in Texas within the legal framework.

Additionally, attendees will learn how to navigate large-scale animal cruelty cases, access critical local and national resources, and strengthen collaboration between law enforcement agencies, animal welfare organizations, and the judicial system.

Why This Training Matters

🐾 Bridging the Knowledge Gap – Many first responders encounter animal cruelty cases but lack the specialized training to handle them properly.
⚖️ Legal & Procedural Expertise – Learn the step-by-step process of investigating cases and obtaining animal seizure warrants.
🤝 Community & Agency Partnerships – Strengthen interagency collaboration to protect animals and uphold the law.

For those working in law enforcement, corrections, dispatch, or animal control, this course is a vital tool in ensuring justice for animals and accountability for offenders.

Please note, the entire course, final exam(s), and course evaluation(s) must be completed in order to receive two (2) hours of course credit.
