This is a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Leadership in Law Enforcement online training course offered for Texas Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.
When the geographical areas of the patrol beat become far larger than that of the scope of the patrol officer, or when the problems encountered cannot be solved at the beat level, then law enforcement leadership must take the lead role in making organizational and philosophical changes that allow all stakeholders in the problem, the tools they need to reduce and or eliminate the problems that are occurring. Law enforcement leadership must take pause and determine if current operational philosophies must be changed, revised, eliminated, or added, that will give patrol officers problem solving tools that will enable them to collaborate with community members on their beats. This course offers law enforcement leadership the tools to evaluate the agency culture, then make cultural changes that allow patrol officers to creatively solve community problems. In this course you will be exposed to how law enforcement leadership plays a pivotal role in the agency’s ability to bring together local governmental authorities and departments with the people in the in collaborative efforts to eliminate community problems in both the real world and cyber communities.
